Bridget, Reflection

There are many connections between manipulatives and the standards. One standard states that "students use technology to tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity." Many manipulatives are used for this purpose. Anything that students do on the computer in terms of school work increases their technology skills. Using things such as video conferencing and interactive white boards is a great way to integrate technology into the classroom and it can really promote students productivity. Having students create things like blogs or power point presentations, allows them to really be creative and come up with their own ideas. Another standard that really relates states "Students use a variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences." This includes so much technology. Once again blogging comes into play, also things such as you tube, wikipedia, and all sorts of other on-line resources. Many different people view these types of sites and it can be a great way for students to communicate with one another and many other people. One last standard I think really fits states "Students use technology resources for solving problems and making informed decisions." The internet can be a great resource for students. It is important that student understand that everything on the internet is not true and that some websites can give a lot of false information. There are also some really great websites out there that students can use as resources.

You made several good points, Bridget. I believe you'll develop a great curriculum and integrate these useful and engaging resources (websites) you found!
